Traffic jam

While on the way to work this morning, I was caught in a jam that was primarily due to the Thaipusam float possesions and devotees throwing coconuts on the road. I have no problems with acts of devotion to the divine and deities but indescriminate throwing of coconuts on the road is plain dangerous.

I don't know why are the coconuts littered on the road and I reckon there must be some religious significance to it, but as it is, the safety and the wellbeing of the motorists are of paramount importance. I saw a near accident that made me contemplate about the manner which it happen, and thank god that nothing happen to the motorcyclist.

I reckon tomorrow will be another day which is going to be jammed and i would need to get up earlier and go to work. To all the Hindu devotees, I wish them Happy Thaipusam

Singapore trip

Yup went for a short visit to our neighbor down south and it was a very tiring trip. One glaring thing about Singapore is that it's clean, much cleaner than our country. I think overall organisation of that place trumps Malaysia hands down.

I reckon why is it the case? Fact is 4 decades ago, it's a part of us, small and supposedly insignificant blip in the landscape and now, they are so ahead of us in all fields, everything from the standard of living to it's superb public transportation.

Whenever I see Singapore, I see what Malaysia could have been but along the way, we squandered our national resources not to mention wealth.
I think if the people that decides and implement things will need to seriously buck up. Whatever it is, we are losing out big time.

Scavengers

As I was walking towards my clinic today, I reckon my guardian angel was looking out for me. In a stroke of luck, what could have been a grave injury was twarted simply because I opened my eyes and watched every step I took. Just yesterday the drain was covered but today, viola! for some unknown reason, lo and behold, it's vanished.

Recently there have been a spate of small time thefts of all these metal objects, from cables, drain covers, electricity poles, fencing and even my gas tanks, yup, gas tanks, those yellow metal cooking gas tanks that i have had the misfortune of being stolen from my place, ....TWICE.

I think the situation has deplore into this state, and the authorities are not doing their part in preventing this from occurring. Money is small compared to grave injuries sustained from this petty crimes. Lives are lost, injuries and emotional suffering is the end product of this petty thievery.

To all those besi buruk fellas, I want to tell them not to entertain and buy from those people that steals and plunder all those public properties and to report to the authorities . This madness needs to be stopped.

New Condo

Last Saturday after servicing my car, I went to the site where I bought my condo. It's located in Dutamas and is supposedly an entry level condo, nothing fancy as I reckon this being my first property I was practically a newbie when it comes to property investing. Actually I am still but all these while loitering in the Real Estate forum, I reckon I picked up some pointers here and there, especially from my girlfriend, Jagsy, she's a real big timer as compared to me, but that is a completely different story.

Anyway I visited the place and in my untrained eyes, I reckon it was passable, not that good, but passable. Workmanship is not as atrocious as one of the other condos around my place, but all in all it could be better.

I went inside the unit, and I was checking out the workmanship as the handing over of the property would be delayed until the beginning of next year. This is the state of legislature in Malaysia whereby developers are always taking purchasers for a ride, anyway nothing much I can do, as what they promised by handing over the unit by end of this year is just that, lip service.

One thing though, the unit looks and appears smaller as compared to the show room which is blatant misrepresentation, again difficult to contest as the developers have demolished the show unit, no doubt to prevent comparison with the actual unit.

One pleasant thing from this is that I reckon being the first ever property I bought, at least it didn't turn out as bad as I had envisioned it to be. Lets just hope that things will work out fine and I wont lose money in this venture.

And now to the second and third property that I bought.....Cheers!

Car Service

It was saturday and I had made prior arrangement to get my car serviced in Ford Concessionaires and it was scheduled for 10am in the morning. I reach the place at around the stipulated time frame. I own a Ford Escape which I bought it pre owned, and this is my first service.

To cut a long story short, it was the longest ever service that I had ever experience. It took at least 4 hours to merely change the engine oil and the air and oil filter. I notice from the service booklet it was supposed to take 0.8hours to get it done.

I was wondering if it really does need so long to get a cars serviced? Perhaps it's because there is only one authorised service centre for Ford in the whole of Malaysia? And for whatever it is, it costs me 300 odd to just change into a semi synthetic oil. I reckon it's far too expensive.

Apart from that upon inspection of the car, there are numerous things that need to be changed? Including the shock absorbers, the disc brakes and everything is running into the thousands. I just wondered if it's an accepted norm to tell the customers that everything is not working properly and a change is imminent?

A new year a new resolution?

Happy new year 2007. Haven't been blogging for so long, I reckon I don't know where and how to start. As per any new year, there is always a long list of resolution that many will jot down. I used to do this as in any person but the recent years I haven't been exactly listing any of them down. Most of the time the resolution goes unfulfilled and it has gotten to a stage that I don't even want to have any resolution at all.

Anyway just a short post to wish everyone either young or old, male or female, irrespective of religion, socio economic status, nationalities, I wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope that the new year brings unlimited blessings and happiness, not to mention good health.
